Zippy + Blog da Carlota

Este fim-de-semana fomos às compras à Zippy e não pagámos nada!
Pois é, há uns tempos participei num passatempo no Blog da Carlota e ganhámos o 2º prémio - 50€ em roupa na Zippy!
As miúdas ficaram super entusiasmadas e escolheram uns fatos de treino e uns casacos de malha. Eu também gostei bastante de ir às compras com elas e não ter uma conta enorme para pagar. É que isto de ter gémeas é tudo a dobrar!

This weekend we went shopping to Zippy and didn't pay anything! 
Some time ago I participated in a giveaway in Blog da Carlota and won the 2nd prize - € 50 in clothing at Zippy Kidstore!
The girls were super excited and chose a few tracksuits and cardigans. I also quite liked to go shopping with them and not have a huge bill to pay. This is what having twins means!

Setembro »» September

Estamos quase a chegar ao fim das férias da escola. Agosto passou a voar e Setembro já vai a meio e acabei por não ter tempo para me dedicar ao blogue. Para a semana começa as aulas e voltamos à rotina.

Nestes últimos tempos temos andado atarefadas na compra dos livros e do material escolar, a organizar e a encapar. Está quase tudo pronto para mais um ano lectivo!

Aqui estão fotos de alguns dos meus últimos trabalhos.

We are almost at the end of the school holidays. August and September seemed to fly and I ended up not having time to devote myself to the blog. Next week school begins and we are back to our routine. 

On the last couple of weeks we have been busy in the purchase of books and school supplies, organizing and getting everything ready. The girls are now ready for another school year!

A Catarina festejou os seus 5 anos no fim-de-semana passado! O tema era Princesas da Disney e este foi o bolo que fiz para a festa. A pedido da pequena Catarina o bolo era de chocolate com recheio de leite condensado.

Pelo sorriso na cara dela acho que gostou muito! Eu adorei fazê-lo :)

Catarina celebrated her 5th birthday last weekend! The party theme was Disney Princesses and so I made her this cake for the party. It was a chocolate cake as she asked.

By the smile in her face I think she liked it a lot! I sure loved making it :)

Vestido »» Dress

Nem acredito que fiz um vestido para mim! E sem molde nem nada. Vestido saco de batatas como lhe chama o Pai das gémeas: mais simples era impossível!

Foi a primeira vez que cosi malha e foi mais fácil do que estava à espera. Segui umas indicações que encontrei na net e voilá ... já tenho mais um vestidinho para levar para a praia :)

Fiquei muito contente com o resultado e sinto que superei mais um desafio!

I can't believe I made a dress for myself! And without a pattern. A pillow case dress: it would be difficult to make a easier dress !

This was my first time sewing with knits and it was easier than I thought it would be. I just followed some guidelines I found on the internet and voilá ... I got a new little dress to take to the beach :)

I am very happy with the result and feel I've conquered yet another sewing challenge!

Tarte de Maçã »» Apple Pie

A porta USB do portátil está avariada! Não consigo pôr cá as fotos que tirei durante a semana :(

Perante a preguiça de as pôr no outro computador e as enviar por mail para este resolvi simplesmente rever fotos dos últimos tempos. Muitas vezes tiro fotos a coisas que faço, mas por uma razão ou outra acabo por não as publicar. E foi nesta pesquisa que encontrei estas fotos e me ficou a apetecer Tarte de Maçã!

Mas estou com pouca vontade de a fazer. Por aqui está um calor imenso, e a ideia de ligar o forno não é assim muito apetecível.

Esta receita é da minha mãe, não é muito fácil, nem rápida de fazer, mas é absolutamente deliciosa e vale bem a pena todo o trabalho!

Para a massa :

Numa taça bater 1 ovo com 50g de açúcar, juntar 75g de margarina derretida e raspa de 1/2 limão. Finalmente juntar 125g de farinha e uma colher de café de fermento em pó. Terminar amassando esta mistura com as mãos, formar uma bola e deixar a repousar.

Para o creme de pasteleiro:

À parte ferver 2,5dl de leite com uma casquinha de limão e um pau de canela.

Noutro tachinho misturar 1 gema + 1 ovo inteiro com 75g de açúcar e uma colher de sopa de farinha. Depois de bem misturado juntar o leite fervido passado por um passador. Mexa bem e leve ao lume brando mexendo sempre com uma colher de pau até a mistura engrossar. Desligue e deixe arrefecer.

Estenda a massa com o rolo sobre uma superfície enfarinhada. Forre uma tarteira com a massa e enrole o rebordo. Coloque o creme pasteleiro. Descasque 3 ou 4 maçãs, corte fatias finas e cobra toda a tarte. Leve a cozer em forno médio 150º durante 30 minutos. Depois de tirar do forno pincele toda a tarte com geleia de marmelo.

Deixe arrefecer e sirva.

The USB port of my laptop is broken! I can't download the photos that I took during the week :(

If I wasn't feeling so lasy I guess I could download them to the other computer and then send them by email to this one. But I am feeling lasy so I simply decided to have a look at some of the recent photos I took that I didn't get to publish. And it was when I found these photos and I was in the mood for Apple Pie!

But it's so hot here today that I really don't feel like going into the kitchen and the idea of ​​turning the oven on is not so very desirable.

This is my mother's recipe, it is not easy, nor quick to make, but it is absolutely delicious and well worth all the work!

For the dough: 

In a bowl beat 1 egg with 50g of sugar, add 75g of softened butter and zest of 1/2 lemon. Finally add 125g of flour and a teaspoon of baking powder. Finish mixing the mixture with your hands, form a ball and leave to rest.

For the pastry cream: 

In a pan boil 2,5 dl milk with lemon rind and a cinnamon stick. 

In another pan mix 1 egg yolk + 1 whole egg with 75g of sugar and a tablespoon of flour. Once well mixed add the boiled milk passed through a sieve. Stir well and bring to a simmer stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until the mixture thickens. Turn off and let cool.

Roll out the dough with the rolling pin on a floured surface. Line a pie tin with the dough and roll the rim. Place the pastry cream. Peel 3 or 4 apples, cut thin slices and cover all the pie. Take to bake in moderate oven 150 º for 30 minutes. After removing from the oven just brush the entire pie with quince jelly. 

Let it cool and enjoy.

Farto-me de participar em passatempos no Facebook, mas nunca tinha ganho nada. Desta vez a sorte mudou e ganhei este aplicador de molas de pressão e um conjunto de molas. Ainda não tive tempo de utilizar o meu novo brinquedo, mas tenho a certeza que vai ser muito útil em diversos trabalhos.

Verão »» Summer

O Verão já começou e as férias da escola também!

Este ano as miúdas querem aproveitar as férias para aprender costura, por isso preparei alguns projectos muitos giros que são super fáceis de fazer.

Começámos por fazer gelados em feltro. Eu só fiz o molde e dei as instruções. Elas copiaram o molde para o feltro, cortaram e coseram à máquina!

Ficaram super felizes por conseguirem fazer tudo sozinhas e ainda ganharam dois gelados em feltro para usar nas suas brincadeiras : )

Summer has begun and so have the school holidays ! 

This year the girls want to learn sewing during the holidays, so I prepared some fun projects that are super easy to make. 

We started by making felt popsicles. I just made the pattern and gave the instructions. They copied the template to the felt, cut and machine stitched ! 

They were very happy to get to do it all by themselves and got two felt popsicles to play with :)

Já está mais um jogo do galo disponível na loja. Desta vez fiz um jogo a pensar em todas as crianças que adoram cães!

Lisboa »» Lisbon

Este fim-de-semana fomos até Lisboa. Há muito tempo que queria ir com as miúdas a Lisboa. Já tínhamos ido ao Zoo e à Kidzania, mas ainda não tínhamos ido conhecer o centro lisboeta.

A ideia era conhecer um pouco dos pontos turísticos da capital e também andar de metro e de eléctrico, coisa que por aqui não dá para fazer.

O tempo esteve fantástico e a viagem correu da melhor forma possível.

This weekend we went to Lisbon. I  wanted to visit Lisbon with the girls. We had already been to the Zoo and KidZania, but we had not been to the center of Lisbon.

The idea was to see some of the most popular sights of the capital and also go by Metro and tram. 

The weather was fantastic and the trip went as well as possible.

Oceanário

No Sábado fomos direitos ao Parque das Nações, onde visitámos o Oceanário e o Pavilhão do Conhecimento. Ao fim da tarde ainda deu tempo para andar de teleférico.

Mais uma vez optamos por ficar hospedados no Novotel, que é fantástico para famílias com crianças. É um hotel com uma excelente relação qualidade-preço, instalações a pensar nas crianças, quartos espaçosos  e onde as crianças não pagam!

On Saturday we went right to the Parque das Nações, where we visited the Oceanário and the Pavilhão do Conhecimento. By late afternoon we still had time to ride the cable car.

We decided to stay again in Novotel, which is a fantastic hotel for families with children. It is a hotel with an excellent quality-price ratio, facilities with kids in mind, and spacious rooms where children don't pay!

No Martim Moniz à espera do Eléctrico 28

No domingo, depois de um excelente pequeno-almoço, deixamos o carro no hotel e fomos de Metro até ao centro da cidade. Optamos por comprar cartões Viva Viagem, e assim por 6,50€ por pessoa pudemos utilizar toda a rede de transportes públicos sem ter de pagar mais nada.

Descemos nos Restauradores e fomos apanhar o Eléctrico 28 ao Martim Moniz. O eléctrico levou-nos até ao miradouro de Santa Luzia. Daí seguimos a pé até ao Castelo de São Jorge. Descemos então até à Sé de Lisboa e daí até à Praça do Comércio e à Rua Augusta.

Parámos então para almoçar num pequeno restaurante, pois para além de já estarem com fome também estavam bastante cansadas.

On Sunday, after a great breakfast, we left the car at the hotel and we went by metro to the city center. We chose to purchase Viva Viagem cards, and so for € 6.50 per person we could use all public transport without paying anything more.

We went to Restauradores station and then walked to Martim Moniz to catch tram 28. The tram took us to the viewpoint of Santa Luzia. Then we walked to Castelo de São Jorge. Then on our way to downtown we stopped at the Cathedral of Lisbon and then continued to the Praça do Comércio and Rua Augusta.There we stopped for lunch at a small restaurant, because in addition to being hungry we were also quite tired.

Elevador da Glória

Voltámos a apanhar o Metro e descemos nos Restauradores. Logo ao lado está a paragem do Elevador da Glória. Subimos então no elevador até ao Jardim de S. Pedro de Alcântara, outro miradouro fantástico da cidade.

We again took the Metro to Restauradores. Close by is the Glória funicular stop. The Elevador da Glória took us all the way up to the  S. Pedro de Alcântara Garden, another fantastic viewpoint of the city.

Voltámos a descer no elevador e fomos a pé até à Rua do Ouro onde apanhámos o Elevador de Santa Justa.

Chegamos ao Largo do Carmo onde aproveitámos para descansar e comer um merecido gelado. Descemos então ao Chiado, onde a mamã pode dar uma vista de olhos nas lojas.

We went back down the elevator and walked to the Rua do Ouro where we took the Santa Justa Elevator. 

We arrived at the Largo do Carmo where we decided to rest and eat a well-deserved ice cream. Then started our way down to the Chiado, where mom had a look to the shops.

Apanhámos finalmente o Metro de volta ao hotel e regressamos a casa ainda a tempo do jantar, pois no dia seguinte era dia de trabalho e de escola.

A verdade é que passear com crianças em cidades  não é fácil, mas apesar de bastante cansativo, foi um fim-de-semana bem passado.

We finally caught the Metro back to the hotel and return home in time for dinner. Because the next day was a work and school day.

The truth is that exploring cities with children is not easy, but although quite tiring, it was a great weekend.

Para o Diogo »» For Diogo

Esta foi uma encomenda muito especial da minha prima Sara para o seu Diogo. Um nome para pendurar na porta do quarto, 2 pregadeiras para pôr no carrinho: a letra D e um carrinho vermelho. E finalmente um mobile de berço com baleias e barquinhos. Acho que ficou tudo muito fofo e espero que a Sara tenho gostado.

This was a very special order from my counsin Sara for her newborn Diogo. A name banner to hang on the baby's room, 2 pins to put on the baby stroller: the letter D and a little red car. And finally a crib mobile with  whales and sailboats. I think everything turned out really cute and hope Sara liked it.

T-shirts com aplicações em tecido »» Applique t shirts

Depois do sucesso das t-shirts do ano passado eis que surgem umas novas!

Estava difícil, a intenção era já ter feito outras, mas de boas intenções está o mundo cheio. Desta vez deixei as miúdas escolherem o desenho e os tecidos e muni-me de material adequado, comprei finalmente o tão falado HeatnBond. E devo dizer que é espectacular! Foi super fácil e rápido. Já tenho montes de ideias para fazer mais aplicações em tecido!

Para quem não conhece o  HeatnBond é um papel termocolante de dupla face que torna este tipo de aplicações super fáceis de fazer. Primeiro corta-se um pedaço do papel HeatnBond (do tamanho do molde que se quer) depois corta-se pedaços de tecido. Com o ferro de engomar cola-se o papel ao verso dos tecidos (sem usar vapor). Passa-se o molde do desenho e recorta-se. Depois é só colar o trabalho a uma t-shirt ou qualquer outra peça! Simples.

After the success of  last year's applique t-shirts here are new ones! It was a long process, the intention was to make many others, but the world is filled with good intentions. This time I let the girls choose the design and fabrics and bought the appropriate material. Finally bought the famous HeatnBond. And I must say it is awesome! It was super easy and fast. I already have lots of ideas to make more fabric appliques!

For those who do not know the HeatnBond is a double-sided fusible paper that makes this kind of applications super easy to make. First cut off a piece of HeatnBond paper (the size of the pattern that you're going to use). Then cut fabric pieces. Place the paper on the back of the fabric and iron until it is bonded (without using steam). Transfer the design and cut. Place it on a t-shirt or any other thing and iron until bonded! Simple.
