Plantas na minha varanda »» Plants on my balcony

Em meados de Março fui à Feira e era só plantas por todo o lado! Toda a gente estava a comprar coisas para plantar! Havia de tudo em pequenino: pés de couve de vários tipos, cebola, courgete, alface, várias ervas aromáticas, e também havia fruta!

Como era tudo super barato decidi comprar 5 pés de alface e 5 pés de morangueiro! 5 de cada porque o espaço nas minhas varandas não é abundante e os vasinhos teriam de arranjar lugar entre os vários vasos de orquídeas que já lá têm o seu lugar ao sol!

A ideia era essencialmente mostrar às miúdas o crescimento das alfaces de dia para dia (confesso que em relação aos morangos a expectativa era baixa). Os vasos até foram para a varanda do quarto delas e ficaram encarregues de as regar!

Para espanto de todos a coisa funcionou! Já comemos 2 alfaces das "nossas" e este fim-de-semana colhemos os primeiros morangos, que apesar de poucos (eram só 7) eram deliciosos!

Estou rendida aos encantos da jardinagem. Quem sabe o que vamos plantar a seguir!

In mid-March I went to the city Fair and there were plants everywhere! Everyone was buying things to plant! There was a bit of everything: shoots of various types of cabbage, onion, courgette, lettuce, various aromatic herbs, and there was also fruit! 

As everything was very cheap I decided to buy 5 lettuce shoots  and 5 strawberry shoots! 5 of each because the space on my balcony is not abundant and the vases would have to make room among several potted orchids that already have their place in the sun!

The idea was essentially to show the girls the lettuces' day to day growth (I confess that in relation to the strawberries my expectation was low). We put the vases on their room's balcony and they were in charge of watering the plants!

To everyone's amazement it worked! We already ate 2 lettuces and this weekend we harvested the first strawberries, which were delicious but only 7!

I surrendered to the charms of gardening. Who knows what we will plant next!

Receita de Torta de doce de ovos »» Custard cream roll Recipe

Em semana de aniversário do blogue andei a rever posts antigos e a ver o que é mais procurado, aquilo que vos interessa mais e reparei que um dos meus posts mais vistos dos últimos tempos é de Torta de doce de ovos

Mas revendo o post vi que não partilhei a receita convosco, que deve ser o que estão à procura, certo?

In the blog's anniversary week I am reviewing old posts and seing what has more views, what interests you most and noticed that one of my most viewed posts of recent times is the Custard cream roll cake
But reviewing the post I saw that I haven't shared the recipe with you, and that must be what you are looking for, right?

Então, aqui vai:

Forre um tabuleiro com papel vegetal.

Deite 6 ovos inteiros numa taça grande, junte 300g de açúcar e bata com a batedeira eléctrica até dobrar de volume.

Depois de a mistura ter crescido bastante adicione 150g de farinha peneirada com uma colher de chá de fermento em pó e misture delicadamente.

Deite a mistura na forma por cima do papel vegetal (não precisa de untar com margarina) e leve ao forno a 150º por 15 a 20 minutos.

Enquanto a massa está no forno faça o doce de ovos:

Coloque 6 gemas num tachinho e junte 6 colheres de sopa de açúcar e mexa bem com uma colher de pau. Acrescente 6 colheres de sopa de água e mexa bem. Leve esta mistura ao lume brando (sempre a mexer) até ferver e começar a engrossar. Retire do lume e deixe arrefecer.

Entretanto coloque em cima de uma mesa um pano da loiça limpo e espalhe açúcar por cima.

Assim que o bolo estiver pronto, vire o tabuleiro para cima do pano e retire o papel vegetal.

Espalhe o doce de ovos por cima do bolo. Enrole imediatamente com a ajuda do pano formando um rolo e coloque numa  torteira. Polvilhe com açúcar e delicie-se!

So here it goes:
Line a rectangular pan with parchment paper.
Pour 6 whole eggs in a large bowl, add 300g sugar and beat with electric mixer until doubled in volume. Add 150g of sifted flour with a teaspoon of baking powder and mix gently.
Pour the mixture into the baking pan over the paper (no need to grease with butter) and bake at 150 º for 15-20 minutes.

While the dough is baking make the custard cream: 
Place 6 egg yolks in a saucepan and add 6 tablespoons of sugar and stir well with a wooden spoon. Add 6 tablespoons of water and stir well. Bring this mixture to a low heat (always stiring)  until it boils and begins to thicken. Remove from heat and let cool.

Now put a clean tea towel open on a table and sprinkle sugar on top. 

Once the cake is done, turn the pan onto the tea towel and remove the parchment paper. 

Spread the custard cream on top of the cake. Roll immediately with the help of the tea towel forming a roll and place in a rectangular dish. Sprinkle with sugar and enjoy!

Tic Tac Toe for Blind Kids!

This is a tactile version of Tic Tac Toe, complete with a raised grid, plush Xs and Os and braille. The entire game can be stored in the pouch that also serves as the game board.

The game set is all handmade with wool felt, embriodery thread and polyester fiberfill. The Xs and Os are all hand cut, hand sewn, and stuffed for a 3D effect that is easier to hold. Each game piece is about 2.4 inches tall.

Angry Birds

Tenho estado ausente aqui do blogue, mas por uma razão boa: muitos jogos do galo para fazer!
Hoje listei um novo jogo na loja! A pedido de uma cliente fiz um jogo inspirado nos Angry Birds.

A outra novidade foi que acrescentei o nome da criança ao jogo!  Assim a partir de agora podem comprar um jogo super personalizado e único! Nem sei como é que ainda não tinha pensado nisto antes : P
