Novidade! Fiz estas bolsinhas de maquilhagem a pensar nas prendinhas de Natal. São um presente muito útil e bonito que se pode trazer na carteira e onde cabem pequenas coisas como pensinhos, um gloss, um Benuron, etc. Estas estão disponíveis, é só deixar uma mensagem ou mandar um mail.
O molde é do livro Sew Pretty Homestyle do qual já fiz vários projectos e que continua a ser um dos meus preferidos de sempre.

Something new! I made these little make-up bag thinking about Christmas presents. They make a beautiful and useful present that you can carry in your handbag. It is big enough to put a pad or tampon, one gloss lipstick, a pill for headache, ... These ones are available. You just need to leave a comment or send me an email.
The pattern is from the book Sew Pretty Homestyle from which I already made several projects and it still continues to be one of my favourites craft books.

Almofada Kitty »» Kitty cushion cover

Acreditem ou não comprei este tecido Hello Kitty numa feira por uma ninharia. E claro que já o usei para vários projectos. Desta vez fiz uma almofada para um baú do quarto das minhas filhas. Super fofo, não?

Believe it or not I bought this Hello Kitty fabric at a fair for a bargain. Of course, I've already used it for various projects. This time I made a cushion cover for a trunk from my daughters' room . Super cute, no?

Vestidos »» Dresses

Será que alguém ainda se lembra duns moldes para uns vestidinhos que comprei  da Little fish in a big pond ... em Maio passado? Meu Deus já se passaram 3 meses ... que vergonha. Mas não pensem que demorei este tempo todo a fazê-los, não! Já estão prontos desde Junho só que me deu uma preguiça de tirar fotos... nem eu sei bem porquê!

Does anyone still remember some dress patterns that I bought at Little fish in a big pond ... last May? My God it's been three months ... what a shame. But do not think it took me this long to sew them, no! They are ready since June. I was just too lazy to take pictures ... I do not quite know why!

Os vestidos até ficaram muito giros. Devo dizer que as instruções não eram muito simples especialmente para alguém como eu: uma verdadeira principiante sem qualquer noção de costura ... mas com muita vontade de aprender, é certo!

The dresses turned out really pretty. I must say that the instructions were not very easy to follow especially for someone like me: a true beginner with no idea of sewing ... but eager to learn!

Como podem ver no pormenor tiver de fazer umas preguinhas, pois os vestidos eram muito compridos. Sabem eu estava com medo de fazer tudo mal, por isso comprei os vestidos no tamanho acima (para ter margem de manobra para o caso de ter de cortar uns pedacinhos, percebem?)

As you can see in the detail I had to sew some pleats because the dresses were too long. You know I was scared to do anything wrong, so I bought the dresses one size up (to make room in case of having to cut some pieces, you know what I mean?)

Com as miúdas de férias tenho menos tempo para as 'minhas coisas'. Costura e blog vão ficando parados enquanto é preciso brincar e ocupar o tempo com 'coisas mais delas'. Mesmo assim fiz mais uma carteira (acho que estou a ficar viciada em fazer carteiras). Foi mais um projecto do livro Sew Pretty Homestyle do qual já tinha falado anteriormente. 

Acho que este livro tem coisas lindas e realmente dá vontade de por mãos à obra.

 

With the school holiday and the kids at home I have less time for 'my stuff'. Sewing and blogging stay behind as we need to play and make 'their stuff'. Even so I managed to make another bag (I may be becoming addicted to sewing bags). It was another project from the book Sew Pretty Homestyle of which I've talked about on another post.

I think this book has beautiful things and really makes you want to make stuff.

A semana passada dei os primeiros passos na arte de fazer roupa. Até agora só tinha costurado coisas para a casa e carteiras, parecia-me que fazer roupa seria um pouco mais complexo. Mas com a ajuda da minha sogra (que foi modista) aventurei-me a fazer dois vestidos de Verão para as minha princesinhas.
A minha vontade de fazer vestidos surgiu porque descobri uma loja no Etsy que vende kits fantásticos para vestidos. A loja chama-se little fish in a big pond caso alguém esteja interessado. Como não os podia comprar a todos, encomendei uns e depois inspirei-me num outro para tentar eu mesma fazê-los sozinha. Aqui vos deixo o resultado final.

Last week I gave the first steps in the art of making clothes. So far I had only sewn bags and things for the house, it seemed to me that making clothes would be a bit more complex. But with the help of my mother-in-law (who was a dressmaker) I ventured to make two summer dresses for my little princesses.My desire to make dresses came about because I found a shop on Etsy that sells fantastic dress kits. The shop is called little fish in a big pond in case your interested. As I could not buy them all, I ordered one and then got inspired to try and make another myself. Here is the final result.

Bibes novos »» New pinafores

Eu: Os vossos bibes estão a ficar pequenos.
Elas: Não mãe, nós é que estamos a crescer.

Então comprei bibes novos para as miúdas. Em vermelho como eles pediram ... mas eram muito simples, faltava-lhes alguma coisa...
Cortei umas Kittys e uns corações de um pedaço de tecido (que comprei numa feira) e zig-zag com ele. E foi assim que fiz o meu primeiro aplique (muito mal feito, é verdade), mas as miúdas adoraram. E isso sim é a maior compensação do mundo.

Elas: Mas mãe, não escrevas os nossos nomes em Inglês e com buracos, está bem?
(Significado: Para não escrever em minúsculas :)

Por isso bordei os nomes a ponto de cruz em MAIÚSCULAS. Uma letra de cada cor, pois não se conseguiam decidir só por uma.

Escusado será dizer que foram um sucesso lá na escola.


I: Your pinafores are getting smaller.
They: No mom, we are growing.

So I bought new pinafores for the girls. In red as they asked ... but they were very simple, they were lacking something ...I cut some Kittys and two hearts of a piece of fabric (that I bought at a street market) and zig-zaged them. And so I did my first appliqué (very badly done, it's true), but the kids loved it. And that is the highest compensation in the world.They: But mom, do not write our names in English and with holes, ok?(Meaning: not to write in small letters:)

So I cross stitched their names in CAPITAL LETTERS (and in Portuguese of course). A letter of each colour, because they could not decide just for one.

Needless to say, they were a success at school.

Coelhinho da Páscoa »» Easter bunny

Hoje está um dia lindo e cheio de sol. Que bom!
Até a minha orquídea se abriu para espreitar.
E como a Páscoa já está à porta fiz mais um coelhinho.

Today is a beautiful sunny day . How nice!Even my orchid opened up to peek.And as Easter is close by I made another bunny.

Cozinha renovada »» Renewed kitchen

Tenho andado muito atarefada e por isso não tenho tido tempo para vir aqui. Quando o sol começa a espreitar e a Primavera se começa a enunciar dá-me sempre vontade de fazer alterações ou renovações em casa. Na semana passada estava eu a pôr as cortinas da cozinha para lavar quando me lembrei que o melhor era fazer umas novas. Fui ao meu armário e lá tinha uns panos de cozinha que tinha comprado para fazer um saco de praia e naquele momento pareceu-me que o tecido era perfeito para umas cortinas de cozinha. Mas, claro, não me contentei com as cortinas, gostei tanto que resolvi pôr a cozinha toda a combinar.

I've been very busy and so have not had time to come here. When the sun begins to peek and Spring begins to sprung it always gives me the will to make changes or renovations at home. Last week I was putting the kitchen curtains to wash when I thought that it was better to make new ones. I went to my closet and there were some dishcloths that I had bought to make a beach bag and at that moment it seemed that the fabric was just perfect for the kitchen curtains. But, of course, not content with the curtains, I decided to make extra stuff to match.

Terminei mais um projecto do meu livro preferido do momento Sew Pretty Homestyle. Finalmente consegui colocar bem um fecho! (não é uma tarefa fácil ... pelo menos para principiantes como eu). Ficou muito fofo e vai passar a andar comigo na minha carteira.

I finished another project from my current favourite book Sew Pretty Homestyle. Finally I managed to put a zipper properly! (it's not an easy job ... specially for beginners like myself). It turned out really cute and it's going to go straight to my handbag.

O meu querido marido ofereceu-me este livro fantástico e estava ansiosa por fazer alguns dos projectos. Gostaria de os poder fazer todos, pois são todos lindos de morrer.
Começei por fazer uma almofada para alfinetes e um quadro de mensagens. Lindos, não?

My dear husband offered me this great book and I was desperate to try out some of the projects. I wish I could make them all because they're all gorgeous.
I started by make a pin cushion and a message board. They look just lovely, don't they?

Descobri o prazer de fazer as minhas próprias carteiras e sacos. E agora que comecei, não sei quando vou parar. Tenho feito várias a partir de moldes que encontro na Internet e estou a adorar o resultado.

I've found the pleasure of making my own bags. And now that I've begun there's no way to stop. I've been sewing some bags using patterns I found in the net and I'm just loving it.




Este é um saco que fiz em bombazine bege, pois queria um saco de Inverno e para mim a bombazine é um tecido típico desta altura do ano. O molde é gratuito e podem encontrá-lo no site http://machenmachen.wordpress.com.
O passarinho foi feito em feltro e torna o saco ainda mais especial.

This is a bag I've made in beige bombazine. I wanted a winter bag and for me bombazine is a typical winter fabric. The pattern is free and you can find it at http://machenmachen.wordpress.com.
The little bird was made of felt and it makes the bag even more special.

Saco para brinquedos »» Bag for toys

Tenho andado a trabalhar na minha lista de projectos (todas aquelas coisas que vejo e que gostaria de fazer vão para essa lista, depois quando posso vou à lista e escolho um projecto). Assim, hoje trago-vos um saco para brinquedos que fiz inspirada nos sacos da revista Vertbaudet, que podem ver aqui.
O meu saco foi feito com tecido Ikea dum lado e um tecido às bolinhas verde e branco. É reversível e acrescentei-lhe duas pegas para as garotas o puderem transportar.

I've been working on my projects' list (everything I see and would like to make go to that list and then whenever I can I go to the list and choose a project). So, today I bring you a toys' bag I made that was inspired in the bags I saw at Vertbaudet magazine, that you can see here.
My bag was made using an Ikea fabric on one side and on the other a simple green polka dot fabric. It is reversible and I just added two straps so that the girls can take it wherever they want.

Back to school!

I'm thrilled! I'm back to work after 5 years of staying at home. So it is, I was invited to teach English to young children at a primary/elementary school and it's good to be back.
I will have less time to dedicate to my crafts, but this doesn't mean I won't make them (no way)!

Here you have a bag and a little pouch bag I recently made to offer my sister-in-law for her birthday.

School has just started

Today school started for my little girls, so I made new bags for them to take to school with their snacks.
They loved them!




Meanwhile I also made this little fabric pouch bag.



I hope now that school has started I will have more time for my crafts.

Ikea handbag

Last week was dedicated to sewing (I really missed it :)
I had planned to sew an handbag , something simple to take to the market with me. So I took a piece of fabric I had bought at Ikea (really cheap by the way) and made the bag.
I think that it is really good for a first try.
The inside is also made of another Ikea fabric (I have to admit I am a fan!) and it closes with a magnetic snap.




And I still managed to get time to sew another cushion cover for my living room...
