Este fim-de-semana fomos até ao Gerês, um sítio mágico onde poderia ser perfeitamente normal encontrar uma fada.
Partimos no sábado de manhã sem pressas com uma mala de roupa e um cesto de piquenique.
Chegámos a Cerdeirinhas, povoação que marca o início do Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês, e continuámos, então, o nosso caminho até à barragem da Caniçada, onde um imenso espelho de água nos dá as boas vindas.
This weekend we went to Gerês, a magic place where we would find perfectly normal to see a fairy.
We left on Saturday morning with no hurry with a suitcase and a picnic basket. We reached Cerdeirinhas (village that marks the beginning of the Peneda-Geres National Park) and went on our way to the dam of Caniçada, where an immense body of water gives us a warm welcome.

Seguindo pela estrada que acompanha a barragem dirigimo-nos então para a
Vila do Gerês, local onde decidimos ficar hospedados. Sendo ainda cedo,
começamos à descoberta das mais belas paisagens.
Partindo da Vila do Gerês, seguimos em direcção da Barragem da
Caniçada. Poucos metros à frente encontrámos um entroncamento com a
indicação de "Ermida". Virámos nessa direcção e seguimos por essa
estrada estreita durante mais ou menos 5 km. Como a hora do almoço se
aproximava parámos à sombra de umas árvores, coisa que por estes lados
não falta, e fizemos o nosso piquenique.
Continuando caminho
chegámos então à indicação para "Cabril" onde se enfrenta umas descidas
muito acentuadas até se chegar a uma ponte sobre o Rio Arado.
Estacionámos o carro e começámos uma descida vertiginosa a pé pelo lado
direito da ponte. Pelo caminho encontrámos pequenas quedas de água que
formam belas lagoas onde aproveitámos para nos refrescar. Optámos por
não descer até ao fundo, pois o caminho era bastante a pique, difícil e
perigoso, tanto para as miúdas como para a mãe delas. Segundo as
indicações que eu tinha encontrado na internet, era suposto chegarmos a
uma lagoa rodeada de areia donde se pode observar uma das maiores e mais
belas cascatas do Gerês, as "Cascatas do Tahiti". Será com certeza uma razão para
lá voltarmos daqui a alguns anos.
We headed to Vila do Gerês in the road that follows the dam. As it was still early, we began the discovery of the most beautiful landscapes.
Starting from the village of Gerês, towards the dam of Caniçada, a few meters ahead we found a junction with the indication of "Ermida." We turned in that direction and we followed this road for about 5 km. As it was almost lunchtime, we stopped in the shade of some trees, something that does not lack in these parts, and made our picnic. Then we
continued our way until we found the indication for "Cabril" and proceeded until we reached a bridge over the "Rio Arado". We parked the car and started a steep descent on foot from the right side of the bridge. Along the way we found small waterfalls forming beautiful lakes where we could refresh ourselves. We
chose not to go down to the bottom, because the descent was difficult and dangerous for both the girls and for their mother. According
to the information I had found on the Internet we were supposed to get
to a lake surrounded by sand where you can see one of the largest and
most
beautiful waterfalls of Gerês, the "Cascata do Tahiti." This will be a
good reason to come back in a few years.

De volta ao carro, seguimos até ao cruzamento onde tomámos a direcção do
"Cabril" e virámos à direita na direcção de "Ermida". Subimos sempre
por essa estrada até chegarmos a um entroncamento com as indicações
"Pedra Bela" à esquerda e "Cascata do Arado" à direita. Tomámos o rumo
da direita e seguimos o caminho junto ao rio até à ponte. Aí subimos a
pé por umas escadas até ao miradouro da cascata. Segundo as indicações
que eu tinha, aqui poderíamos ter continuado a subir pelas rochas e
chegaríamos a um pequeno riacho e a outra cascata com uma lagoa onde se
pode tomar banho. Fica para a próxima.
Decidimos
voltar para o carro e seguir a direcção de "Pedra Bela", um dos mais
belos miradouros do Gerês, onde a beleza da paisagem enche a alma a
qualquer visitante.
Regressámos à Vila do Gerês por uma estrada logo à esquerda.
Chegámos
ao hotel ainda a tempo de nos refrescar na piscina, porque apesar de
estarmos em meados da Outubro o tempo estava espectacular.
Back in the car we got back to the junction where we took the direction of "Cabril" and we turned right towards "Ermida." We
climbed that road until we reached a junction with the indications
"Pedra Bela" on the left and "Cascada do Arado" on the right. We took the path at our right and followed the path along the river up to the bridge. Then we climbed the stairs up to the viewpoint of the cascade. According
to the information I had, here we could continue to climb the rocks and
we would arrive at a small stream with a waterfall and another lake where we could bathe. We saved this bit for next time.
We
decided to go back to the car and follow the direction of "Pedra Bela",
one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Gerês, where the
beauty of the landscape fills the soul of any visitor.
We returned to Vila do Gerês driving through a road just to the left. We
reached the hotel in time to refresh ourselves in the pool, because
although we are in mid-October the weather was spectacular.

No dia seguinte, partimos na direcção da "Portela do Homem" passando
pela "Mata de Albergaria". Após passarmos pela segunda cabana de
controlo estacionámos e fizemos a pé o percurso de volta até à ponte
sobre o rio Homem, onde tirámos umas fotos noutra belíssima cascata.
On the next day we set off towards the "Portela do Homem " driving through the " Mata de Albergaria". After
passing the second control cabin we parked our car and walked the way back to the
bridge over the river "Rio Homem", where we took pictures of another beautiful
waterfall.

Voltámos para o carro e aventurámo-nos por terras espanholas até à
povoação de "Torneiros", onde existe uma fantástica nascente de água
quente com uma piscina (que até deita fumo) e donde a água corre para o
rio. Como ainda era cedo e estava um pouco de frio, não tivemos coragem
para imitar os outros turistas e tomar banho. Molhámos só os pés e as
mãos para nos certificarmos que a água era mesmo quente! Mais um local
para tornar a visitar.
We
returned to the car and ventured on the Spanish land to the village of
"Torneros" where there is a fantastic hot spring with a pool and where the water flows into the river. As it was still early and I was a little cold, we had no courage to imitate the other tourists and get in the water. We just got our feet and hands in the water to make sure that the water was really hot! Another place to revisit in the future.

Voltámos pelo mesmo caminho até à Vila do Gerês onde aproveitámos para visitar as termas e o belíssimo parque das termas.
Já no caminho de regresso, voltámos a parar em Vilar da Veiga junto à Barragem da Caniçada onde almoçámos num pequeno restaurante.
Regressámos então a casa com a certeza dum fim-de-semana bem passado.
We returned the same way to the village of Gerês, where we visited the spa and the beautiful park of the spa. On the way back we stopped again at Vilar da Veiga near Caniçada dam where we had lunch in a small restaurant. Then we returned home with the certainty of a weekend well spent.
