Bolachas caseiras »» Homemade cookies

Is there anything better than spending the afternoon baking cookies with our daughters in a rainy day?

Put 2 egg yolks and 250g sugar in a bowl and beat with the electric mixer.
Pour in 250g of melted butter and half of a package of liquid cream (100ml). Sift 500g of flour into the mixture mixing well.
With a rolling pin extend portions of this mixture on a floured surface and cut out biscuits with various cutters.
Preheat oven to 180ºC/350ºF/gas mark 4 and line up a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a bowl mix one egg yolk and the rest of the package of cream (with a fork).
Put the biscuits in the tray, brush them with this mixture and sprinkle with coloured hundreds-and-thousands.
Bake in the oven only for a few minutes just until the cookies are golden on top.Mmmm, delicious.

Nova Carteira »» New bag

This was one of the first bags I made. It has some (minor) defects that fortunately you can't see! But it showed me that sewing bags is not rocket science. Have a try! This pattern is also free and you can find it in Rae's fantastic blog www.madebyrae.blogspot.com
For those who are trying to guess: yes, it is an Ikea fabric!

Carteiras »» Bags

I've found the pleasure of making my own bags. And now that I've begun there's no way to stop. I've been sewing some bags using patterns I found in the net and I'm just loving it.

This is a bag I've made in beige bombazine. I wanted a winter bag and for me bombazine is a typical winter fabric. The pattern is free and you can find it at http://machenmachen.wordpress.com.
The little bird was made of felt and it makes the bag even more special.

Saco para brinquedos »» Bag for toys

I've been working on my projects' list (everything I see and would like to make go to that list and then whenever I can I go to the list and choose a project). So, today I bring you a toys' bag I made that was inspired in the bags I saw at Vertbaudet magazine, that you can see here.
My bag was made using an Ikea fabric on one side and on the other a simple green polka dot fabric. It is reversible and I just added two straps so that the girls can take it wherever they want.

Difficult times

Life is really funny sometimes! Things change and people also change - I've changed, that's for sure!
It may be difficult to believe, but I quitted my classes. I simply didn't like it (and this said by someone who used to love teaching).

Well, I'm back to be a full-time mother, which is now for me the best job in the world.
I got back to my crafts and decided to make a little basket full of little sweeties that can become wedding or baptism gifts.

Wedding gifts and envelope for the invitation (all made of felt):

Back to school!

I'm thrilled! I'm back to work after 5 years of staying at home. So it is, I was invited to teach English to young children at a primary/elementary school and it's good to be back.
I will have less time to dedicate to my crafts, but this doesn't mean I won't make them (no way)!

Here you have a bag and a little pouch bag I recently made to offer my sister-in-law for her birthday.

School has just started

Today school started for my little girls, so I made new bags for them to take to school with their snacks.
They loved them!

Meanwhile I also made this little fabric pouch bag.

I hope now that school has started I will have more time for my crafts.

Little pouch bags

Last week I was asked to make a little pouch bag. But nobody said in what colour, so I made three different ones. This way she can choose the one she prefers...

And here there are some mobiles that are already with their owners :)

A new beginning

I love September!
For me September always meant the begining of a new year (probably due to the several years I spent as a student and as a teacher).

So I am beginning the "new year" with some super sweet hair clips. These ones in an extra large size.
I hope you like them.

Happy New Year!

Ikea handbag

Last week was dedicated to sewing (I really missed it :)
I had planned to sew an handbag , something simple to take to the market with me. So I took a piece of fabric I had bought at Ikea (really cheap by the way) and made the bag.
I think that it is really good for a first try.
The inside is also made of another Ikea fabric (I have to admit I am a fan!) and it closes with a magnetic snap.

And I still managed to get time to sew another cushion cover for my living room...

Hello Kitty ... without whiskers

An unforgivable fault ... Hello Kitty without whiskers.
I hope she forgives me.

Something new

This holiday I've made something new that I had in mind for quite some time.
Mothers that have little girls know how it is to have hair clips all over their house. And probably this has happened to you: you chose a really nice outfit for your little one and you want to match it with a special hair clip but you just can´t find it wherever you look .... and a few days later you find it in the washing machine!
So I thought I could make a hair clips holder:

I think it turned out really cute. What do you think?

Felt on holiday

It´s good to be back! Don´t get me wrong, I love to go on holiday, but the truth is that I was already missing my house, my daily routine and obviously my blog.
This year I took felt on holiday with me and this was what I made:

Felt hair clips

And now I'm proud to present my first felt hair clips.
Lots of people had already asked if I could make some so here they are:

I hope you like them as much as my daughters did (they want them all for themselves!).

More felt mobiles

Finally I managed to come here to show you some of my latest works:

A friend asked me to make a mobile with a surf board and this was what it came out.
I even made the detail at the back.
